Google earns a whopping $ 6-7 billion a year through its adsense program and there is this little start-up which might just slap the heck out of Google’s bread-winning, brilliant and a long-standing, profitable program.
Google adsense is a smart way of displaying merchant ads on most websites that talk about topics these are relevant to. For instance, Google Adsense would show pet food merchant ads or pet dog ads on a website that informs readers about pets or pet foods.
Trouble is that these ads are all generated automatically based on a few algorithms. It’s a simple robotic, automated process and the webmasters don’t have much of a say in what ads are displayed and whether the webmasters themselves approve of these ads or not. Google isn’t giving the webmaster much of anything to hang by except a few measly cents, dimes or dollars thrown in.
That isn’t impressive.
What’s impressive though, is that MyLikes.com – a new start-up founded by Arvind Sundarajan and his wife Bindu Reddy, both ex-google . They are well-poised to topple almighty Google if their little plan really becomes successful. MyLikes.com, for once, takes away the power of the algorithm and hands it over to the webmasters themselves. Now, you as a webmaster can actually have ads on your sites that have been approved by you or recommended by you because you know these products and services.
A user, also called as a “influencer” can choose relevant advertisers that are promoting products and services relevant to his website/blog/twitter. Users can then write their own recommendations and get paid per click. If you have a lot of traffic coming your way or if you are very influential, you will be able to earn more.
Much like an affiliate programs where you are compensated for your efforts in promoting others’ products and services, this program is right on the face of Adsense, as you can very well see.
