4 Alternatives to Using Adwords

ppc advertisingGoogle Adwords is an excellent tool for any online marketer, but it’s not the best for everyone. For some, it’s far too expensive to use consistently, while others may be merely looking for different markets and audiences to expand to. Whatever the reason, there are plenty of excellent opportunities out there beyond Adwords

Here is a list of alternatives to Adwords for any PPC specialist to explore:

  1. Bing Ads– Despite the juggernaut that Adwords may appear to be, don’t be so quick to rule out exposure opportunities on Bing. As of February 2013, 31% of all unique internet searches do not use Google, while Bing accounts for 47.3 million unique searchersper year.Additionally, numbers show that Bing searches are more likely to result in a conversion globally. Data from December 2012 showed that Bing searchers worldwide spent 136% more than the average internet searcher and 77.4% more than Google.Even if you are successfully advertising with Adwords, it might be worth it to run ads on Bing to reach new audiences.
  2. Ad Roll– Another good tool to use, regardless of whether or not you are able to afford Adwords, Ad Roll is one of the few programs that have been approved by Facebook to work with the Facebook Exchange network. Ad Roll isn’t the most inexpensive option out there, but conversion rates tend to be fairly high. Could be worth trying out for a bit to see if it gets you any additional leads.
  3. Sponsored Tweets– Make sure you’re considering all of your options when advertising. Twitter is continuing to grow and become an important part of the online user experience. Sponsored Tweets is one of the most popular advertising platforms for Twitter advertising. This platform allows advertisers to pay per tweet and select partners according to categories like geography and following. The tweets are also linked to Google Analytics to make it easier to track their performance.
  4. BuySellAds– One of the largest and most popular networks for placing banner ads around the internet, BuySellAds can be a very profitable platform for your advertising, as they sell over 6 billion ad impressions every month. BuySellAds charges a 25% success fee, but they have a lot of high-quality traffic opportunities. Could be a good option even if you are currently successful with your Adwords advertising.

There are several other PPC alternatives not included on my list. If you’ve had success with a particular platform, please share your results with us.
