Fancy New Digs For Uber Coming 2018 Uber has announced a joint venture with Alexandria Real Estate to develop its new corporate headquarters which will be based in San Francisco. The two building campus will occupy San Francisco’s Mission Bar area and will consist of over 420,000 sq ft of office and retail space. One of the buildings will be a 6 story structure and the other will be a 10 story structure, likely linked by glass walkways. Uber is aiming for a 2018 opening for the new buildings. This movement aims to consolidate Uber’s workforce which is currently spread across San Francisco in a various different floors and buildings. “Uber was born in San Francisco, and this city has very special meaning for our company. We are excited to expand our presence here and invest in the Mission Bay neighborhood. Google Cardboard Cardboard is quickly becoming the leading VR platform with over 1 million units shipped so far. This is a 100% increase in since the 500,000 shipped by December 2014. Google’s Cardboard was first revealed during last years I/O event. In comparison to Facebook’s acquisition of the pricier Oculus VR, Cardboard is simpler and much less expensive version. “Cardboard is good enough for the story we wanted to tell…..Everybody knows what it is. It’s low-cost. You probably already have it.” It’s a simple idea, but it’s one that caught on internally at Google. Eventually, it made its way to I/O as a mysterious surprise gift to attendees this year, and the response they got was overwhelmingly positive. Indeed, the team announced that 500,000 Cardboard viewers will have been built as of today. “We really didn’t expect it….We built it mostly for hobbyists and enthusiasts like ourselves, for the maker community.
