Digital Week In Review: Twitter & Google+

There has been some exciting new updates in the digital world this week. To name a few, Google Maps is back on the iPhone (yay!) and Bing has expanded its “snapshot ” to include people and landmarks. In this week’s digital review, we’ll touch upon some interesting news that may serve to be useful to digital marketers and advertisers.

Twitter Releases Updates to it’s Advertising Platform

Yesterday, Twitter announced that marketers can now select from three various options when entering keywords: exact match, phrase match, and basic keyword match when deploying a Promoted Tweet campaign, which was first launched in April of 2010. In an effort to make it easier for advertisers to tie in their marketing on Twitter with their existing online efforts, Twitter created a bulk import tool (image below). The best part about all of this: advertisers will have the opportunity to automatically match their Promoted Tweet in search to relevant trending topics.

Google + Launches Integration with YouTube

According to a recent post on Social Times, Google announced that they will be adding a button allowing YouTube users to share videos they upload on Google+ from the upload interface  to YouTube. To implement this, a user must link his or her Google+ and YouTube account under his or her real name for public videos to display automatically. Like the new Myspace, this could potentially be very useful for aspiring musicians, bands, and other performers who market themselves through video platforms. End of the Year Updates to Google+

In an effort to make Google+ a industry-leading mobile experience for its users, Google announced that they will be launching 18 updates to the interface to do just that. These updates include allowing Android users to interact with Google+ Communities on their phone/tablet. One really cool update will be the ability to create 360-degree panorama Photo Spheres from the new, Instant Upload feature on the Google+ App. Also, Google will now provide 5GB of space to store your photos!
